IWD Reflection: The Strengths That Shape How I Teach, Lead, and Help Women Flourish

International Women’s Day always brings up a mix of feelings for me. There’s the celebration — the joy of seeing women lift each other up. But there’s also the reality: empowerment is often talked about far more than it’s lived.
And this year, as I step into a new chapter with Flourish & Bloom Kitchen, I’ve been reflecting on what empowerment actually looks like in practice. Not the slogans. Not the branding. The behaviours.
And this year, as I step into a new chapter with Flourish & Bloom Kitchen, I’ve been reflecting on what empowerment actually looks like in practice. Not the slogans. Not the branding. The behaviours.
One thing that’s helped me understand my own approach is CliftonStrengths.
If you’ve never come across it, CliftonStrengths is a research‑based tool that identifies your natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving — the things you do instinctively, without forcing it. Not job titles. Not learned skills. Just the core parts of you that show up everywhere.
My top five are:
Harmony, Developer, Responsibility, Consistency, and Analytical.
They’re not just traits. They’re the backbone of how I teach, how I build community, and how I show up for women.
🌿 Harmony — I create calm, safe spaces to learn
Harmony means I’m not here for drama, competition, or politics.
I’m here to create environments where women feel safe to try, fail, try again, and grow.
In my classes and communities, Harmony is the reason people say, “I finally feel like I can ask questions without feeling silly.”
That matters.
🌱 Developer — I want everyone to flourish
Developer is the lifelong teacher in me.
I see potential everywhere — and I can’t help but nurture it.
I don’t gatekeep.
I don’t hoard knowledge.
I don’t believe in “protecting my secrets.”
I believe in women learning, growing, and becoming confident in their craft.
Whether that’s piping a flower, building a business, or finding their voice.
🤝 Responsibility — I show up with integrity
Responsibility is why I teach honestly.
Why I don’t do gimmicks.
Why I don’t promise overnight transformations.
Why I care deeply about the women who trust me with their time and money.
It’s also why performative empowerment — the “let’s lift women up… unless they’re a threat” version — hits such a nerve.
Empowerment without integrity is just marketing.
⚖️ Consistency — I treat everyone fairly
Consistency is the backbone of my teaching.
Clear expectations.
Stable routines.
No favourites.
No hidden rules.
Everyone gets the same access, the same support, the same chance to grow.
In a world where some women pull the ladder up behind them, I’m building a staircase with room for everyone.
🔍 Analytical — I teach the why, not just the how
Analytical is the part of me that breaks things down, demystifies techniques, and makes learning feel achievable.
It’s why my teaching is practical, grounded, and real.
It’s why women leave my classes not just with a skill, but with understanding and confidence.
🍞 A New Chapter: Why Flourish & Bloom Kitchen Matters
This new chapter — Flourish & Bloom Kitchen — isn’t a rebrand or a pivot. It’s the culmination of every version of my business so far. Every class I’ve taught, every woman I’ve supported, every floral cake I’ve piped, every community I’ve built.
The Kitchen part is important.
A kitchen is where things are made.
Where ideas become real.
Where people gather, learn, experiment, and grow.
Where flour turns into something beautiful.
It’s the heart of a home — and the heart of my work.
Flourish & Bloom Kitchen is the place where all my strengths come together:
Harmony creates a calm, safe learning space
Developer nurtures every woman’s potential
Responsibility keeps the teaching honest and grounded
Consistency builds trust and fairness
Analytical breaks things down so learning feels achievable
This isn’t a shiny new direction.
It’s the platform everything has been leading to.
A space built on integrity, clarity, and genuine empowerment — not the performative kind that disappears the moment a woman becomes inconvenient.
A space where women can learn without fear, grow without judgement, and flourish without gatekeeping.
A space rooted in my floral cake artistry, my educator’s heart, and yes — the literal flour that started it all.
Flourish & Bloom Kitchen is my past, present, and future in one place.
It’s where I get to teach in the way I was always meant to.
And it’s where women get to grow in the way they deserve to.
🌸 This IWD, I’m celebrating the strengths that help women grow
Not the hashtags.
Not the glossy campaigns.
Not the “empowerment” that disappears the moment a woman becomes inconvenient.
But the everyday behaviours that make empowerment real:
creating safety
nurturing potential
showing up with integrity
treating people fairly
teaching with clarity
These are my strengths.
They’re my values.
They’re the foundation of Flourish & Bloom Kitchen — and the reason I’m so passionate about helping women learn, grow, and feel genuinely supported.
🌿 What’s Coming Next…
If all of this resonates — the fairness, the clarity, the no‑gatekeeping, the grounded teaching — then you’ll want to keep an eye out for Back to Business Basics.
It’s a practical, no‑nonsense offer designed for women who want to build (or rebuild) their business foundations without overwhelm, jargon, or pressure. It's the foundation of the Seasonal Success Blueprint which I first developed in 2022 and has helped many women to flourish in their businesses. I wanted to offer this as an affordable, accessible, standalone mini course for those who want to start their learning journey with me.
It's jam-packed with practical resources that I've created based on the learning from my own journey - ones that I still use in my own business today.
It’s the kind of support I wish I’d had years ago: practical, honest, clear, and rooted in real‑world teaching.
And if you want to be part of the conversation as this next chapter unfolds, come and join me over in the Flourish and Bloom Kitchen community group. It’s where I share behind‑the‑scenes updates, early access, and the kind of support that only happens when women gather in a space built on integrity.
